White Sands National Park

275 square miles of rare gypsum crystals makes this stunning desert dune field feel like an extraterrestrial moonscape and is the largest of its kind on planet Earth. Located in Alamogordo, NM, these white sand dunes are situated at the base of the mountain about an hour outside of Mayhill, and are easily accessed right off your driving route to the ranch. The views are spectacular and we highly recommend a barefoot dune walk or sled (saucer) rides down the dune sides!!

Cloudcroft

This quaint town is home to The Western, a local watering hole where we both frequently enjoyed splitting a pitcher of something cold on tap. The day Alex proposed, we celebrated here with Alex's mom Betsy, who was taking us back to ELP on one of our many journey's home. We christened the occasion with a signed dollar bill, and challenge anyone to try and locate it on the ceiling!!
