FAQs

In light of current events, we know there are many unknowns and questions that we might not have all the answers to, but we'd like to provide some guidance and how we plan to adapt.
Question

How will this event be in accordance with local quarantine measures?

Answer

We are aware of the executive order newly in effect for all out of state travelers to abide by a 14 day quarantine, and appreciate everyone's concern as to how we plan to mitigate any communicable spread. Since our event location is entirely outdoors and contained to private property, we have chosen to embrace our initial plans and adapt to this ever changing time. Mayhill, NM is a very remote location and has not seen the same number of cases that other areas have experienced. We encourage everyone to take all personal measures needed to feel comfortable during our event (i.e. wearing a face mask), and there will be plenty of room to space out and have as much or as little of an interaction with those around you as you wish. We have spoken with local businesses that are still operational at this time, and they have indicated that these orders are not actively enforced, and did not indicate the same level of concern for this given location.

Question

What is the status of COVID cases for this particular location?

Answer

Here is a link to access the status on COVID-19 United States Cases by County at Johns Hopkins University: https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/us-map Both Cloudcroft and Mayhill, NM are located in Otero County. Cloudcroft has a population of 698 and is at an elevation of 8,675 feet. Mayhill is located about 17 miles to the east of Cloudcroft, and is at an elevation of 6,581 feet. The current number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Otero County is 168, or 252 per 100,000 population. For comparative purposes, Orange County, California confirmed cases are 34,646, or 1,087 per 100,000 population. Los Angeles County, California confirmed cases are 176,028, or 1,742 per 100,000 population. Last updated: 7/28/2020

Question

I want to attend, but am nervous about exposure to COVID. What would you recommend?

Answer

This is a very personal question, so we can only provide guidance that may help you in this decision. We do ask that if you will have a high risk of exposure through professional or personal responsibilities that you make the right decision of whether or not you'd be putting others at risk by attending. All those able to attend, we trust that you have done your own due diligence in limiting exposure, and will not put any of our guests at risk. We are hard at work creating a safe and comfortable space for all to feel welcome, and have the ability to interact to whatever extent each feels comfortable. We'd love to be able to share this moment with as many family and friends able to make the journey, so it is our primary focus to adapt any logistical element possible to help make this happen.

Question

Are face coverings required?

Answer

Not required, but definitely welcomed! Given the nature of this event, some guests (including ourselves when tying the knot) may not be wearing face masks, but we encourage all those in attendance to please make the best decision possible when it comes to personal protection. Please understand that many family members will be limiting their exposure prior to events so that we are able to participate in these special moments together, and will be making decisions like this one accordingly.

Question

How many guests are you expecting?

Answer

Knowing that this was a travel destination for most, and now with current events on top of that, we are expecting a small gathering of less than 50. For perspective, we are currently much lower than that, and know each of our guests are closely monitoring events to make the best decisions for themselves as we get closer to our date. We will continue to update this as information is received.

Question

Still have a question? Please call us!

Answer

As you can imagine, it is very difficult to account for all the unknowns. If you have a unique set of circumstances, or a question that has not been answered by the above, please do reach out, as we'd love to help ease any nerves or provide additional information that will help you make the most informed decision possible.
