driving from Denver or from Vail to Denver and in need of breakfast? We love this spot in adorable town of Idaho Springs. Its a great pit spot to stop at whether you are on your way to Vail on I-70 or headed back to Denver on your way out.
Want to take the scenic route? Loveland pass is the highest (11,990 ft) and one of the many beautiful passes off I-70 as you drive to Vail. Its winding roads may seem a bit frightening, but the continental divide awaits at the very top with gorgeous views on both sides (We promise it is worth it!). As you drive west from Denver to Vail, take exit 216 and follow the signs past loveland ski resort toward the pass. Shortly after you hit the top, be sure to pit stop at the loveland pass lake trail. There is a sign on the right side as you start driving down the back side of the pass. It is beautiful and there is ample parking as well.

Vail Mountain’s two main villages, Vail Village and Lionshead, are connected by a 10- to 15-minute walk, passing Gore Creek and views of sunlit slopes. You can also take the free shuttle, which stops in Vail Village, Lionshead and West Vail. Nearby, East Vail and Cascade Village sit within easy reach, surrounded by towering pines and nature trails. Parking is more convenient than you might expect — the Vail Village Parking Garage puts you steps away from crackling fire pits, outdoor gear shops and shaded restaurant patios perfect for sipping coffee or cocktails. This is a beautiful hike off Vail Pass. Be sure to park in the designated parking spots or take the free shuttle from Vail Village Transportation Center. If you park in non-designated spots, you will get ticketed (from experience) More from All Trails: 3.9-mile out-and-back trail near Vail, Colorado. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 30 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are May through October. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. The Booth Falls Trail is one of the most popular hikes in the Eagle's Nest Wilderness. The area offers incredible views of rivers, valleys, untouched aspen grove forests, and the steep rocky peaks of the Gore Range. In the fall, visitors have the chance to experience the amazing autumnal leaf changes. This steep route is not recommended as a winter adventure. There are no restrooms at the trailhead.
This is a beautiful and easy trail we love. See below: Experience this 1.8-mile point-to-point trail near Vail, Colorado. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 40 min to complete. This is a very popular area for running and walking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are June through September. The Gore Creek Trail follows the path of Gore Creek. It begins in a woodland with towering trees, and you'll be rewarded with the calming sound of the brook all around you. You will have to cross the creek along the trail. As you climb, there will be some steep sections. The trail transitions into lush aspen woods and expansive pastures. Keep your eyes peeled for flora and fauna in the area.
