Our Love Story! We first met on a blind date arranged by our mutual friend, Ke’Yona. She had each of us in mind and felt we’d be a great match—turns out, she was right! Since we both love seafood, Roland suggested one of his favorite spots, Edgewater, for our first date on March 8, 2023. That evening was filled with laughter, great conversation, and instant connection. From there, we began seeing each other regularly. On May 5, 2023, after attending a friend of Freda’s wedding, we officially became a couple. That date holds a special place in our hearts—not only for our relationship but because it is also the wedding anniversary of Freda’s grandparents, who were happily married for over 50 years. A year later, to celebrate our one-year anniversary, we took a memorable trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. On Sunday, May 5, 2024, during a beach photo session, Roland surprised Freda with a proposal—and she said yes! Since our engagement, we've been intentional about building a strong foundation for our future. Financially, we’ve been reading, “Smart Couples Finish Rich” by David Bach. Spiritually, we’ve joined Mount Jezreel Baptist Church, where we’re growing in faith and community. We’ve completed marriage counseling with Rev. Arthur and Rev. Dr. Patricia Williamson using Dr. Dennis Rainey’s book, “Preparing for Marriage,” and we are members of the church’s “One Flesh Ministry.” We will also be continuing our premarital journey with counseling sessions led by Pastor Rev. Dr. Jamison Hunter and First Lady Dr. Patrice Hunter. We are excited to walk together into a future filled with love, faith, and commitment—building a covenant relationship with God and one another.
