Since first meeting in 2019, Mark and Katie have bonded over their mutual love of adventure and non-traditionalism. They have built their relationship on a Whole Lotta Love, and consistently support the growth of each others physical and mental strength. After their 2022 engagement at the Painted Hills, they knew they wanted their wedding day to be ambitious, memorable, and authentic to their personalities. On May 20th, Mark and Katie summited the tallest peak in Oregon: Mt. Hood. Their closest friends Amanda Ettaki and Zach Ettaki accompanied them, acting as officiant and witness. Their second witness was Justin Shoemaker, who had previous summiting experience and was able to assist with guiding and correctly setting ropes for climbing. Mark and Katie exchanged rings and a kiss. View the "Gallery" section for additional photos of the memorable elopement. Mark and Katie plan to celebrate the start of their marriage in Alaska with their parents this summer. Katie is most excited for the Alaska Raptor Center in Sitka, and Mark would love to see the Mendenhall Glacier up close and personal.
