The couple officially met in person at Pryes Brewing in May of 2019. However, as most couples these days, a dating app helped these 2 find each other on their phones. The first 3 dates shared between the couple were spent meeting at different breweries at 5pm and then usually being the last couple present until the last call. Turns out, they liked spending time together. Their relationship continued to grow and then in the spring of 2020, Kristi and her cat at the time moved into Sean's house and has been there since. The lock down was good for relationship building in many ways. Both are thankful they met prior to covid, made that time much more enjoyable.
Sean had been teasing Kristi late 2023 and early 2024. The couple took a short and sweet trip to the Grand Canyon in early January 2024- talk about ideal location for a proposal. Alas, there was no ring given. However, visiting the Grand Canyon in the winter was breathless. At first view, the couple were left truly speechless; mouths dropped wide open and they stood there for about 15 minutes and just starred at the canyon. Fast forward to February 17th, 2024. A fresh batch of snow filled the Twin Cities and Sean knew it was go time for an ideal winter hike. The two went to the Louisiana Swap National Recreation Area in Chanhassen. (Swamp sounds sub-par but it was near Minnesota River back waters and was very scenic, especially with fresh snow AND ogres love swamps). Kristi knew something was up because he asked her to go for a hike (one of her favorite activities). The couple were feeling ambitious and wanted to make a big hiking loop, where a bridge over a creek would bring them back to the parking lot. They made their way through the wilderness and found a huge boulder, it was a nice boulder, they both liked the boulder. They also found some cool old buildings near the creek after hiking 3 miles. There was no bridge and being that it was February, they assumed they could walk across the frozen water, but it was no luck. Even after trying to detach a damaged branch from a tree to make a tree bridge they decided they best be going as the sun would be setting soon. Kristi is now in a slight panic since they would have to walk 3 miles back and avoid being eaten by bears or die of starvation before getting back. They make it back to the very nice boulder and Sean pops the question. There was a beautiful blue sapphire on a beautiful ring, just as Kristi wanted. They made it back to the car just as stars were starting to show and it was a nice way to end the hike. Did Sean plan for all of that? Let's just say yes for story telling purposes.
This event will be a micro-wedding and will be a kid free zone.
