Kenny and Kayla’s summer vacation began on July 16, 2025, with a trip to Blackwater Falls in West Virginia. For four hours, Kenny carried an engagement ring in his back pocket, hoping to propose in front of the waterfall. When they arrived and found the overlook crowded with tourists, he decided to wait. They hiked back to the car and continued on to Durbin, WV, where they planned to camp for the night before heading to their favorite music festival at Snowshoe Mountain. Kenny considered proposing again that evening, but a lively county fair sat just beyond the campground, and once more, the moment didn’t feel quite right. The next morning, they headed to the festival. Near the top of the mountain, Kenny made an unexpected detour. After climbing the winding six-mile road toward Snowshoe’s summit, Kayla—carsick and eager to reach their room—couldn’t understand why he wasn’t following her directions. He gently coaxed her out of the car, suggesting they take a few photos of the view. At the top of the mountain—at the very beginning of their long-awaited getaway—Kenny asked Kayla to spend the rest of their lives together. This time, the moment was exactly right.
