ISLAND ATTRACTIONS

The Wedding Website of Ty-Gerald David and Franklin Parker
Below we are happy to share some of our favorite places and popular attractions on the island.
The Grand Hotel

The Grand Hotel

286 Grand Avenue, Mackinac Island, MI 49757

Since 1887, Grand Hotel beckons guests to a time where old-world meets new charm. For those not a guest of the hotel there is a small fee to enter the grounds, walk the world's largest porch, or enter the hotel for shops and dining. You can explore some of the grounds, including the Secret Garden, for free.

Pink Pony Club

Pink Pony Club

102 Main Street, Mackinac Island, MI 49757

One of Mackinac Island’s most popular restaurants, bars, and music venues, The Pink Pony, located inside the Chippewa Hotel, serves a wide variety of funky cocktails and is famous for its whitefish dip and burger. It’s located right on the water and, in fact, its patio hangs out right over it. Relaxed, low-key, and offering stellar views of the lake, it’s a great place to cool your heels after an afternoon spent discovering this charming island.

Watercolor Café

Watercolor Café

6939 Main Street, Mackinac Island, MI 49757

Watercolor Café is the perfect stop on your way to Mission Point Resort, we do so every time we come to the island! They have great breakfasts, lunches, snacks and a variety of unique coffee drinks. The founder Kate Dupre is amazing and also the artist behind our save the dates.

Doud's Market

Doud's Market

7200 Main Street, Mackinac Island, MI 49757

Stepping into Doud’s Market is about more than picking up essentials. As America’s oldest family-operated grocery store (est. 1884), the Mackinac Island mainstay is steeped in history. This is your one-stop shop for all things food and drink, located right on main street, about a 15-minute walk from Mission Point Resort.

Mackinac Island Horse-Drawn Carriage Tours

Mackinac Island Horse-Drawn Carriage Tours

7396 Market Street, Mackinac Island, MI 49757

The carriages are an iconic feature of Mackinac Island and provide a relaxing way to learn about the island. Aside from the taxi, Mackinac Island Carriage Tours offers the official tour of Mackinac State Park, with narrated tours through downtown to Surrey Hills, Grand Hotel, Arch Rock, and Fort Mackinac. Carriage tours depart regularly from the office across from the Mackinac Island Ferry Dock 1.

Arch Rock

Arch Rock

6131 Arch Rock Road, Mackinac Island, MI 49757

The most famous of the rock formations on the island, this arch towers above the water and is more than fifty feet wide. It attracts the vast majority of the tourists to the island, and can be reached by foot, taxi, carriage or bike. It can also be viewed from below, on the perimeter tour of the island. Mission Point is very close by.

Sunset Rock

Sunset Rock

Mackinac Island, MI 49757

There are countless places to take in the views and watch the sunset on the island, but Sunset Rock certainly takes the cake as a spectacular spot to see a gleaming Mackinac Island sunset overlooking the bridge. Located on the west side of the island (opposite Mission Point) Sunset Rock is about a 45-minute walk from downtown near the Inn at Stonecliffe.

Hiking and Biking

Hiking and Biking

There are countless trails for biking and hiking the island with numerous natural and historic landmarks to adventure to. We often spend our mornings on a hike with the pups, hitting the various island landmarks. The island's 8.2-mile perimeter is also a popular route for walking, running, or biking.

Original Murdick's Fudge

Original Murdick's Fudge

7363 Main Street, Mackinac Island, MI 49757

Welcome to the fudge capital of the world! While there are more than enough fudge options on the island, we proudly recommend the best of the best. Rome Murdick was the first person on Mackinac Island to make fudge on marble slabs, which gave the product a unique flavor and created a show for customers. The term "fudgie"—the nickname given to a tourist in Northern Michigan—is a name that rolls off the tongue as sweetly as the namesake souvenir that tourists have flocked to purchase since 1887, when the Murdick family opened their first fudge shop on Mackinac Island.

Mission Point Resort Putt-Putt Course

Mission Point Resort Putt-Putt Course

One Lake Shore Drive, Mackinac Island, MI 49757

Somewhere In Time Gazebo

Somewhere In Time Gazebo

Anne's Tablet Trail, Mackinac Island, MI 49757

Blending romance, science fiction and drama, “Somewhere In Time” utilized Mackinac Island’s timelessness, sweeping landscapes and intrinsic beauty as the backdrop to the story. As the story unfolds, the film showcases numerous Mackinac Island landmarks. Grand Hotel, Round Island Lighthouse, Mission Point Resort and the Somewhere in Time Gazebo just east of Fort Mackinac all are prominent fixtures throughout the film. The film also depicts something unusual for car-free Mackinac Island: motor vehicles. The production received special permission to bring cars onto Mackinac Island for filming.
