Things To Do in Puerto Rico

The Wedding Website of Kortney Stringer and Frank King Jr.
Puerto Rico’s pulse is still beating -- and stronger this time. Hotels have rebuilt and opened their doors, restaurants and bars are buzzing again and beaches are as beautiful as ever. For those who are looking for ways to help the island recover, the best way to contribute is to visit and enjoy this beautiful place. The more visitors who arrive, the faster the island will rebuild. This is one big reason we chose Puerto Rico as the setting for our wedding. Here are a few things you can do while you're there.

El Yunque National Forest - El Portalito Visitor Center

Puerto Rico 191, Río Grande, Río Grande 00745, Puerto Rico
, (787) 888-1880

The El Yunque National Forest is the only tropical rain forest in the national forest system. At nearly 29,000 acres, it is one of the smallest in size, yet one of the most biologically diverse of the national forests hosting hundreds of animal and plant species, some of which are found only here.Clean up efforts and initial assessments to El Yunque National Forest ecological resources and facilities continue after the impacts of hurricanes Irma and Maria. Visit the website for updates on hurricane recovery efforts.

Bahía Bioluminiscente

Bahía Bioluminiscente

Southern shore of the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico

There are only five bioluminescent bays in the world and three of them are are in Puerto Rico. The most popular, Bahía Bioluminiscente or Mosquito Bay, is located on the island of Vieques off the east coast of the main island of Puerto Rico. In the waters of Mosquito Bay there are organisms named Pyrodinium bahamense, Dinoflagellates (dinos). These “dinos” are responsible for this amazing natural phenomenon. When the “dinos” come into contact with another organism or shaken they produce a bright burst of blue light.

Old San Juan

San Juan, San Juan, Puerto Rico

Old San Juan “San Juan Antiguo," is one of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean and the most visited place in Puerto Rico. Old San Juan has no beaches, no resort hotels, and not a whole lot of natural beauty—yet it's still one of the best places to visit in Puerto Rico. Old San Juan has an incredible 500 years of history, beautiful colonial architecture liberally splashed with tropical colors and timeless magic that makes it one of the most enchanting destinations in the Caribbean. You could spend many happy hours just walking around the walled city.

Bacardi Distillery Entry

Catano, Cataño 00949, Puerto Rico
, (787) 788-8400

Casa Bacardi is the home of the most awarded rum. Visit the world's largest premium rum distillery to see how it's made and pick up a bottle today.

Condado

San Juan, San Juan, Puerto Rico

Condado is an oceanfront, tree-lined pedestrian-oriented community that has bustling nightlife. You can find great places to grab drinks, sample tapas and dane the night away. Just over the bridge from Old San Juan and Puerta de Tierra, Condado is one of Puerto Rico's most fashionable places to call home. Cartier, Louis Vuitton, and Ferragamo are among the names you'll see on the storefronts here. Sophisticated bistros and restaurants draw lively crowds at night, and the beach is always popular during the day.

Sitio Histórico Nacional de San Juan

San Juan, San Juan 00901, Puerto Rico

The San Juan National Historic Site is one of the most impressive sights in Puerto Rico, constantly ranked among the top attractions in the Caribbean. These historic landmarks have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites. San Juan National Historic Site includes the forts of San Cristóbal, San Felipe del Morro, San Juan de la Cruz (El Cañuelo) and the city walls.
