Rental Car
Rent a Car - For the Adventure and full experience! From SJO - Road trip, Music, snacks + Ferry Book a car rental agency in advance - we recommend Budget or Alamo since they have offices in our area Drive to Puntarenas (~2h), take ferry (~1.5h), then drive from Paquera to Montezuma (~1 h) Total ~4-6 hours depending on ferry wait times, best to give yourself 2.5hrs from SJ to the ferry in case of traffic and extra time at the ferry port = extra adventure points and a super cold beer or coconut during the wait This road does have a few tolls have some cash at hand, $10 will be enough to get you through it all If you choose this option: Please purchase your ferry ticket IN ADVANCE -at least 3 weeks ahead of time, at this website to ensure a smooth crossing www.quickpaycr.com - it will ask for your rental cars license plate just put - “RENT A CAR” Offers flexibility and ability to stop along the way at various typical fruit stands 🍉🥥🥭 From LIR - Roadtrip with your favorite tunes, snacks always snacks, on an inner coastal drive What to expect? Driving in Costa Rica is no problem. It is safe and has an easy highway from San Jose to Puntarenas where the ferry departs. If you are driving from Liberia the roads is now fully paved and is a great drive and will give you a lot to see of the coast and inner towns. Upon arriving to the Peninsula, the roads are still paved all the way to Montezuma (a fairly new update). Once you are in our area some roads are paved others are not but since it is the dry season you will not encounter difficulty. Be prepared for some pot holes ☺️ 4x4 is still recommended! And don’t rent a stick shift unless you are super comfortable with hills!
