If you have to ask, then you know the answer already. HA. Just kidding, you will not be forced to do anything scary, except for Gerry who will be forced to hike the Montezuma waterfall.
1. Extra bikinis because they are more important than undies (but also bug spray and maybe some anti itch cream?) juuuuuust in case ;) 2. Bring your own sunscreen to avoid buying overpriced ones here 3. Bring some extra cash as some activities are cash only plus taxi rides are also cash only. Dollars are accepted! 4. If you could bring your own beach sarong, you will be a happier person 5. The obvious- sunglasses, sun hat, flip flops, water bottle (please don’t buy single use plastic!)
Do it even if you are a little scared or nervous, I promise the pay off is worth it. But Francisco is there to also defend you if you say no haha!
Bring water shoes. And if you are new to snorkeling consider bringing one of those new age kids masks that allows you to breath without the snorkel itself - Cori may smirk at you but in a loving way
For those of you who have never travelled to Central America, it will ask you to be patient and open-minded. Nothing is too shocking, but be prepared for a possible friendly gecko (completely harmless) and bugs…you are coming to the jungle after all, and it was their home first. This is not Australia, where a mere spider bite could be lethal, so have no fear! That moth or small crab is more afraid of you than the other way around. You will be exposed to what we assume will be one of the more raw nature experiences you have had and we are so excited to hold your hand if you scream at the little crab in your shower drain haha ;)
Montezuma is a tiny beach town, so everything is very close. In the town center, you will find supermarkets and the majority of the restaurants. To give you an idea, the venue is a mere 10-min walk to the center of town. In any case, do not worry, we will have shuttles bringing you to and back to the venue on the wedding day. Here are some recommendations on where to stay, all within walking distance to the venue: 1. Hotel La Cascada - locally owned, very simple and modest, but clean with AC and private bathroom; 2. El Jardin - locally owned, with a pool; 3. Sano Banano - locally owned, with breakfast included, right at the center of town; 4. Hotel Luminosa (for those on a budget) - locally owned, clean and a pool; 5. Aves Hotel - modern and comfortable hotel, up the hill on beautiful grounds (requires transportation, using taxis or having a car. Uber is not available in Montezuma). 6. NYA - more luxurious and modern, with breakfast included and a pool; 7. Ylang-Ylang Beach Resort - luxurious hotel with beachfront elegance, with breakfast, dinner, and pool included.
Single-use plastic bottles. Please, please invest in a good canteen and rely on that for your water — most hotels have a free water refill station, and water quality in Costa Rica is really good!
