Devika and Taylor met officially for the first time when they were both in high school at Taylor’s parents house. The Frances were hosting a party and hired Devika and a friend to play for the event. Taylor also joined to play his cello but claims that he only learned that he was supposed to do this the day of. He walked grumpily down the hall from his room to make the duo a trio and didn’t say a single word through the whole evening. Devika distinctly remembers thinking “what a weirdo.” Fast forward to 2010 at Wofford. Devika noticed a familiar and very cute face at a party and without pause, no surprise to anyone, went to ask him if he was indeed the same quiet weirdo from the gig from high school. They had mutual friends and remember hanging out, and though the details are fuzzy, they both clearly remember having a connection that they couldn’t quite describe. They kept in touch after college and saw each other here and there and each time felt that same feeling… but neither of them pursued anything more. Then in Halloween of 2015, Taylor and some friends went to visit Devika in Savannah, where their saga officially began. They continued to spend time together off and on for the next few years each taking their sweet time to decide on what their feelings for each other actually were. Finally in 2019 they took the dive into starting a relationship. As soon as they started dating they knew that this was it and being with each other is what they’d always wanted. Even if it took a while to get there. Taylor asked Devika to marry him on 03/06/2021 and now they’re set for the wedding on 10/2/21 in Spartanburg, the city they met in and fell in love in.
