The Wedding Website of Joseph Kang and Lydia Kang

SeungHyun Steven Kwon

Best Man

We met in 1st grade at Alamitos Elementary School. We even repeated 1st grade together. This guy is the goofiest, yet also the nicest guy you'll ever meet. His love and appreciation for guitar are unmatched-- he is a skillful musician. Even though we have been apart for some time, I am grateful that we can always pick up from where we left off.

Priscilla Kang

Maid of Honor

My little, but no so little, sister. Priscilla is often mistaken to be the older sibling because of her sharp-wit, intelligence, and forever chic style... I can never keep up. We grew up fighting and bickering over clothes, and obviously other deeper sister things, but have grown to treasure one another greatly. At the end of the day, there’s no one who knows me or makes me laugh as Priscilla does.

Aiden Kim

Groomsman

Aiden and I met when he attended my small group in undergrad. Our shared love for God quickly jumpstarted our friendship. We tend to encourage and shower each other with compliments. Last but not least, we resonate very well in our struggles with back pain. Lydia and I are grateful for Aiden's support and sweet thoughtfulness throughout our relationship.

Eunice Hyun

Bridesmaid

Eunice and I first met at Hyde Middle School in 2004, the same year I moved back to the States after living in India. We share many fond memories... some of which include watching and re-enacting scenes from Nacho Libre, jumping on and breaking beds at sleepovers, pen-paling, sending each other packages in college, supporting each other in ministry, and flying thousands of miles to visit one another. I am grateful to have such a crazy, solid, creative, wise, loyal, holy sister in Christ.

Paul Kang

Groomsman

My future brother-in-law! I met Paul when his family came to San Jose in 2006. I got a lot closer to Paul once I started dating Lydia. He can always find a way to make me laugh. I am grateful for Paul for taking care of Lydia during her time at home after college, and for also being so supportive of our relationship.

Jeong Eun Choi

Bridesmaid

Jeong Eun and I have known each other since 2010. Our friendship started off as being S.A.T. study buddies in high school, but has grown and evolved throughout years of serving the children and youth in our church. Jeong Eun has been my moral support and prayer partner throughout these years of ministry as well as personal times of trouble. She is one of the most thoughtful, caring, and serving people I know, and I am deeply blessed to always have her by my side.

Daniel Seong

Groomsman

Daniel and I were housemates in college. He fed me many times with his delicious cooking during our college days. When I think of Daniel, I also recall his care and generosity towards me. I respect Daniel for his ambition and am so grateful for our friendship.

Lydia Wu

Bridesmaid

Lydia and I were referred to as Wu and Kang respectively amongst our mutual friends at Wheaton. We were a perfect roommate match during our junior year because we both snore and talk in our sleep (I got you back, Lydia). Not only is she a talented musician and hardworking scholar, but also a terrific cook. She has provided countless home-cooked Chinese meals for me, and was patient with me when I had the nerve to skip washing the dishes. I respect Wu for her perseverance, compassionate heart, warm hospitality, and amazing work ethic.

Jason Kim

Groomsman

Jason was my praise leader during college and is someone I continue to look up to. Not only is he handsome, but also humble, generous, and full of faith. During my college years, Jason bought me countless meals and provided rides without complaint. Jason has consistently guided me in many aspects of my life simply by being a role model.

Yoully Kang

Bridesmaid

Yoully and I met in college, but we might as well be sisters. We share the same last name and dimples anyways. We share so many interests, characteristics, and personality traits, but Yoully is more musically talented, artistic, quirky, impulsive, and sappy than I am. God has been faithful in guiding and enriching our friendship despite the miles between us post-grad. We have consistently pointed one another to God throughout the highs and lows of life, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

Phillip Park

Groomsman

Oh, Phillip. We have been friends since 1st grade and have been through many adventures together. He has always been there for me. You could say he is the brother I never had. People always say that we look alike anyway. I'm grateful for our years of friendship.

Yumi Cha

Bridesmaid

Yumi and I grew up in the Bay and shared many mutual friends, including Joseph, but never met each other until our first day of college. We became inseparable in our freshman year. I praise God for nurturing and redeeming our friendship, all for His glory! Yumi's high empathy, intentionality in relationships, passion for mental health and equal access to counseling make her wonderfully unique and beautiful. World, get ready for Dr. Yumi Cha!

Daniel Jung

Officiant

Pastor Daniel Jung was Joseph’s college pastor in Stockton, California. Amazingly, he is now Lydia’s pastor in Honolulu, Hawaii! We are grateful to have him stand with us on our wedding day and bless our marriage.

Amanda Kam

Wedding Planner

I met Amanda on my first day of 9th grade in Honolulu, Hawaii. Our English teacher, Mrs. Ahana, sat me next to Amanda, telling her to befriend me and show me around campus. We've been close friends ever since. I am so grateful for Amanda. She graciously offered to help me to plan and think through wedding logistics. The sleepovers we've had to prepare for the wedding have been encouraging, life-giving, and such a blast. Thank you.
