In 2005, Lydia and her family moved from India to San Jose. Lydia and Joseph met at Zion Youngnak Presbyterian Church, pastored by her father in their youth group. They liked one another throughout their middle school years. Sadly, Lydia's family moved to Hawaii in 2008. Joseph and Lydia tried to stay connected to one another in hopes of a future reunion but completely lost touch after a year. Time passed, and Joe's family visited Hawaii and Lydia's family during Thanksgiving 2014. Since Lydia was still in her junior year at Wheaton College at the time, they were unable to see each other. Joseph decided to call Lydia to see how she was doing. They caught up for the first time in five years, talking through their abrupt break in the past, and agreeing to keep in touch once in a while. In 2016, Lydia graduated from Wheaton and visited San Jose on her way back to Hawaii. So Joe gathered up all their old church friends together for a full reunion. This was Joseph and Lydia’s first time seeing each other again since 2008... and the rest is history! Dating long distance for three years was tough but rewarding. Joseph and Lydia learned to improve their communication skills daily and supported one another from thousands of miles away. By God's grace, they were able to visit one another every few months and are grateful to their families and friends for helping them all along the way. They share a love for music and dogs, but more importantly, people and the church. Joseph and Lydia are excited to serve God and His Kingdom together in their marriage. #ForTheKangdom
