One of the most breathtaking drives we have ever seen. From downtown Occidental, take Coleman Valley Road (next to Negri's) for about 20 minutes all the way to the coast. You will wind through thick redwoods, up to a crest of trees, rocks and farm animals, overlooking the ocean, with breathtaking views all the way down the hill to Bodega Bay where you can stop for lunch. Should be gorgeous this time of year.
It’s just two blocks long, but Main Street will keep you occupied for hours exploring art galleries that feature area artists or boutiques filled with local crafts and New Age crystals. Don’t miss picturesque, 140-year-old Occidental Community Church (3637 Church St., Occidental, 707-874-3501), which calls itself “the little country church with a big heart.” If you’re visiting on a Friday from June through October, you’ll definitely want to take in the Occidental Bohemian Farmers Market (Main & Second Street, 707-874-8478) with its bounty of organic produce and fabulous food to savor on the spot. Want to sit a spell? Hunker down in a friendly café and watch small town life unfold.
