I will always remember the first time I saw "the guy with a man bun and a half sleeve". From the moment I saw him, I wanted to know more about who he was. You could say I had a "high-school crush". I would (discreetly) look for him during faculty meetings, I talked about him to anyone who would listen, and I always looked forward to our brief "Hi, how are you? Good, how are you? Good." conversations on Fridays during my lunch duty. In February of my first year of teaching, I finally got the nerve to add him on Instagram whilst visiting some friends in Charleston, SC. From his page, I was able to learn more about him (aka stalk him), and I certainly liked what I saw! Finally, in May, after a few here and there, subtly flirtatious words, Coach Smiley sent me an Instagram message! When I saw it, I thought my heart was going to jump from my chest. I messaged him back, and we've been talking ever since...! <3
I noticed Ms. Brown at the first faculty meeting of the 2016 school year and she immediately had my attention. She was very beautiful and seemed to have a very attractive personality. She was a first year teacher and had several football players in her class. This is important as you will find out later. I constantly tried to create opportunities to "run into" Ms. Brown. Examples include: 1 - Walking the long way back from lunch on Fridays to see Ms. Brown at her duty spot. 2 - Getting to morning duty early so that I could see Ms. Brown as she made her morning walk to the cafeteria for coffee. 3 - Often times visiting football players in Ms. Brown's class to make sure they were staying up to date on their grades. After several of these occasions, I decided to step out on a limb and ask Ms. Brown out on a date. She came over to the house and we cooked out. Our first "going out" date was a round of putt putt, which I won on the last hole by 1 stroke. The rest is history.
The proposal happened during an evening worship service of a local mission project called Jerusalem Project. This was our second year doing JP together, and it will be remembered as one of the best weeks EVER! We were lucky enough to have the entire proposal filmed by Mr. Brian "Zig" Ziegelheafer of Zig Creations Company.
