Our Love Story

Christyn's Version: It all started at his mom’s house. I was there to take their family holiday photos, and that’s when I met Lloyd—dressed in his festive Christmas pajamas. We hit it off instantly and stayed in touch. Not long after, he asked for “headshots” (which I later found out was just an excuse to see me again). What started as a simple friendship soon blossomed into something more. From that moment, we were inseparable, and the rest is history. Lloyd's Version: It was October 23rd. My siblings,  nieces and I were all gathered at my mom’s house in matching Christmas pajamas, awaiting the arrival of the photographer. While the ladies were upstairs in hair and makeup, and the rest of us were scattered around the house, the doorbell rang. I opened the door and probably gasped a little bit, as I was expecting a middle-aged white woman named Christine. I instead introduced myself to Christyn, a beautiful (not middle-aged) young lady who was very much “my type”, and proceeded to show her the back yard where we’d be taking our photos.I must have lingered around a bit too long, because eventually she gave me a nod and smile that basically said “okay thanks”. I walked back inside and sensed a crush on the photographer starting to brew.I went back outside to find Christyn snapping photos of my niece Maliya. Something about her calm demeanor and the way she indulged Mia’s charming banter and multiple poses really struck a chord with me. I knew this was a sweet and kind soul and a bright light in this world. In an attempt to make conversation, I asked what kind of lens she was shooting with (I had no idea what I was talking about other than there were different sized lenses). I also incorrectly guessed that she was Puerto Rican and at that point decided I should just take it easy.As we wrapped the photo shoot, Christyn had gotten to see the full ridiculousness of our sibling dynamic and captured a photo of all of us that I wanted to photoshop later into something funny. It was her sending that photo to me that would spark a text exchange that would go on everyday for months. During one of these text exchanges, I asked if she would mind taking some promotional/branding photos of me (NOT headshots). We agreed to meet at Cascade Springs Nature preserve on a chilly day in November. We went on a hike, Christyn took some photos, we walked up on a doe, who ran off and led our attention to a 7 or 8-point buck standing in the middle of a pathway. He stamped his hoof. Which I think was his way of telling me to “kiss the girl”. It took another hour or so, but eventually, I did. And the rest is history in the making…
