Nick and Jessica’s story began the same way many modern love stories do… on a dating app. (Surprise to anyone in their family who didn’t know this already!) Jessica’s profile mentioned she had been allergic to water as a child. Nick was sure that couldn’t be true, so he sent a message: “Really?! No way!” That simple comment started a conversation that changed both of their lives. After asking Jessica out three times, she finally agreed. Nick’s first idea was a pumpkin patch, but when they arrived, all the pumpkins had already been picked. His carefully planned date lasted about ten minutes. Luckily, Jessica had a better idea. “Want to grab a coffee?” Coffee turned into lunch, lunch into dinner, and before they knew it, they had spent the entire day together talking and laughing. A week later, they met again in downtown Lancaster. The evening included appetizers at Decades, dinner at The Exchange rooftop, and dessert at The Pressroom. Just like their first date, neither wanted the night to end. When Nick invited Jessica back to his apartment, she suggested watching Hamilton. What he did not realize was that Hamilton is nearly three hours long. Jessica sang along to every song, and Nick loved every minute of it. By the time it ended, it was 3:00 in the morning. The next day, Jessica introduced Nick to Butterscotch, her beloved pup. Although usually nervous around new people, Butterscotch quickly warmed up to him. Soon after, Nick met Belle and Mayeve, Jessica’s cats. Jessica made it clear she was a package deal, and thankfully that was an easy decision for Nick. As their relationship grew, Jessica sold her home in York, and the two moved in together in downtown Lancaster. Before long, things became serious. Nick met Jessica’s family at Christmas, and Jessica quickly became part of Nick’s family as well. One family member in particular had a question he never stopped asking: Jessica’s Poppi. Every time Nick saw him, Poppi would ask, “When are you going to marry my granddaughter?” Year after year, the question continued. What Jessica did not know was that Nick was waiting for the right moment. He wanted her to achieve something deeply important to her first: earning her master’s degree. Then, on July 25, 2025, after nearly five wonderful years together, Nick finally made his move. While visiting Long Beach Island, New Jersey, a place filled with special memories for Jessica, Nick suggested taking a selfie on the beach. As she turned around, she found him down on one knee. Completely surprised and overwhelmed with emotion, she said yes. And now, surrounded by family and friends, they are preparing for the wedding of their dreams. They are so grateful to celebrate this special day with all of you and cannot wait to begin the next chapter of their lives together. Here’s to a lifetime of love, laughter, adventure, and memories.
