Travel

The Wedding Website of Alexis François and Steve François
All events will take place within the Walled City/Ciudad Amurallada of Cartagena. Below are a few hotel suggestions. There is also the option to book hotel deals through Tripadvisor.com, Bookings.com, Expedia.

Flight

Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG)

The airport everyone should arrive to is Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG). It is located 15 minutes from Cartagena's Old Town (where the wedding will take place, and most people will book accommodation). A taxi to the walled city is no more than 20,000 COP (which is about $5). There are non-stop flights to Cartagena from the United States, but you may also find flights that pass through Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Bogota, the capital of Colombia or through Panama City, Panama. Google flights is a great resource for watching flights and Hopper is a great app as well. If you’re looking for packages for flights and hotel you can find great discounts when you bundle. Delta, American Airlines and Spirit Airlines offers these deals.

Travel Note

Taxi/Uber at the Airport

It is approx. $10 taxi or Uber ride from the airport to the hotel area. Uber is available in Colombia. If you are staying in Cartagena's Old City, it is a 10-minute drive from the airport. If you are staying in Bocagrande (Hyatt, Intercontinental, Hampton Inn), it is a 15-minute drive. Once you walk out of the airport, you will see the taxi line. There's a window where you will tell them where you're going and they will hand you a ticket, which you will give to the driver. If you use a taxi, be sure to agree on the fare with your driver before leaving the airport. A taxi to the Old City will cost you less than 20,000 Colombian pesos (approximately $5-7 USD). You can also pre-arrange with your hotel to be picked up directly from the airport.

Travel Note

Special Hotel Rate

These rates are special group rates that are typically very large discounts that are not available to the general public. The rates above can fluctuate and sell out at any time, so your group should book sooner than later!

Hotel

Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena

39-36 Carrera 8
Cartagena de Indias, Bolívar 130001, Colombia

We are getting married at Hotel Sofitel Santa Clara. Originally built in 1621 as a convent, the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara is an emblematic part of Cartagena’s vibrantly beating heart, the historic center. Transformed into a luxurious hotel in 1995, it boasts a unique style, combining the best of local history and hospitality with the art of French savoir-faire. The stunning hotel brings together colonial architecture and the style of La Republique with modern comforts.

Travel Note

Santa Clara Hotel Room Block

There is a special rate for parties that would like to get a room at the hotel that our wedding will be hosted at. If you are interested in the special rate please reach out to Alexis or Steve for more details!

Hotel

Charleston Santa Teresa Cartagena

31-23 Carrera 3
Cartagena de Indias, Bolívar 130001, Colombia

Hotel

Hotel Boutique Bóvedas de Santa Clara by Accor

Cartagena de Indias, Bolívar 130001, Colombia

Another option is the Sofitel’s sister hotel, Bovedas Santa Clara. It’s located almost next door to the Sofitel and allows you to use all the Sofitel amenities. This is a boutique hotel, so it’s much smaller but still quite luxurious. You can book this on tripadvisor.com or go to the Accorhotels website and sign up for member rates.

House Or Rental

AirbBnb

For groups of friends or family traveling together, Cartagena offers several amazing AirBNB options at an affordable price (as low as $40 per night for a nice apartment) — many of which can house up to 16 people comfortably! If you choose to do this option, just make sure you pick one in the old city close to the hotel (while the old city is not large, the city of Cartagena is giant!)
