Our Story

From Purdue to I Do

My sister, Kristen, graduated from Purdue in 2012 & while there, she became best friends with Kristin Conner. In August 2013, they realized that both of their baby siblings were freshmen at Purdue & Kristen insisted that I reach out to Kristin's brother, Tommy. I took her advice & texted him my first day on campus. That night, we both grabbed some friends & met up in Owen Hall. One of Tommy's friends was Matthew Bitter...introduced to me as “Bitter” (hence why I call him by his last name). Even though Bitter was doing homework the whole time (before classes even started), I knew we would be friends during our 4 years. As school began, I joined the Pi Phi house and Bitter joined Kappa Sigma. Our houses were very close, so I got to spend a lot of time with him & quickly realized how special he is. My goal was then to get him to feel the same way about me! In October 2014, my hard work paid off & he invited me to his formal in Nashville. During the trip I was very surprised when he asked me to be his girlfriend...so surprised that I said no! When we got back to campus, I knew I made a mistake & spent the next two months hoping he'd ask me again. On December 18th, he was very brave & asked again. I, of course, said yes! Since then, Bitter and I have been happily in love. After Bitter graduated, we moved to Indianapolis & in May 2019, bought our first home in Westfield with our pets Boomer, Tiller & Indy. Our home is about 10 minutes from my parents, so we like to spend Sunday’s at their house watching sports & eating a nice (free) meal. October 13th, 2019 was no different except for Bitter’s family being in town. We all went over to my parents' for dinner and right before we sat down to eat, Bitter got the room's attention and gave a beautiful speech before asking me to spend the rest of my life with him! It was the perfect time & place to say yes to forever. We are SO excited to get back in front of our family and friends to start our journey as husband and wife!
