We've bonded skiing here over the past several years and we like it so much it's where we're celebrating our wedding. If you're feeling active, there's a good deal of hiking. Mt. Ellen at Sugarbush is the 3rd highest peak in Vermont. From the summit you can see Lake Champlain and Burlington, the Adirondacks of New York, Mt. Washington and the Whites of New Hampshire, Mt. Mansfield in Vermont, and on a VERY clear day, the Montreal skyline in the distance. You can also take scenic chairlift rides for great views. There are good food and beverage options at the base lodge too.
Right at the resort - at 3,125 feet Allyn’s Lodge is the perfect setting for an afternoon concert sponsored by Lawson's Finest Liquids. Ride the Super Bravo Express Quad to Allyn’s Lodge for an outdoor concert featuring the sounds of CAVAN CURRAN & FRIENDS. We'll be serving up a variety of sandwiches, snacks, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Ski it if you can! Well, in October, you can't. But you can still visit this New England skiing legend. In the fall, they offer scenic lift rides on the historic single chair. Mad River Glen is only a few minutes past Sugarbush on Route 17. If you want a short hike with a good payoff, there's a small parking area on Route 17 (a short ways past the base area of Mad River Glen) where you can access Vermont's Long Trail.
This is the Ben and Jerry's epicenter - visit the flavor graveyard, take a tour, and have some ice cream! Bonus - after Ben and Jerry's, drive 5 minutes down Route 100 to Cold Hollow Cider Mill for excellent cider doughnuts and baked goods, cider (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and more.
A really nice little farm store on the Von Trapp farm, just a few hundred yards from the wedding ceremony location (and less than 1/2 mile from Jamie's childhood home). They make cheese and cure meats in-house, so grab some to bring home!
The perfect hike to experience the beautiful fall foliage Vermont has to offer from above.
