During their sophomore year of high school, Kayla and Eric were randomly paired up together for a group project in their World History class. They wish they could say it was "love at first sight," but in reality, Kayla did a majority of the project by herself while Eric goofed off with his friends. It's a good thing he was cute and funny though because she couldn't hold a grudge for too long! They lost touch for about a year after that, only really saying hi to each other in passing, until Eric randomly sent her a Facebook message on Valentine's Day in 2013 saying, "Hey lady, what's up?" From there, they completely hit it off and made things official on April 22, 2013. After graduating high school in 2014, Kayla and Eric went to different colleges and entered a long-distance relationship that lasted the next 4 years. They've been together for over 9 years now and they can't wait to tie the knot only 13 days after their 10-year anniversary! <3
After 9 years of dating and picking out a ring together in January, it was no secret to Kayla that a proposal was right around the corner. To keep her on her toes, Eric took her out on dates more frequently and always kept the destination a secret. In fact, he took her to Carmel 2 weeks prior to the actual proposal (during the weekend of their 9-year anniversary) and Kayla was wearing the exact same dress/had her nails done, very confident that it was going to happen then and there. But to her disappointment, it obviously didn't! Two weeks later, Eric took Kayla on another "surprise outing" to Yosemite National Park, somewhere both of them have always wanted to visit together. Eric told Kayla that he arranged for a photographer to take couples portraits of them, so upon arriving at the park, they immediately met up with her to do so. However, after about 45 minutes, the photographer hopped in her truck and left! Kayla was SUPER confused at this point and thought Eric went to elaborate measures this time to mess with her. Eric then asked Kayla to change into a dress for a fancy dinner at the Ahwahnee Hotel and since they were "early for their reservation," he suggested they kill time by exploring Yosemite Valley. After walking around for a bit, Kayla spotted the photographer again and Eric got down on one knee!! They ended up celebrating over dinner at the Ahwahnee, stayed the night there (in room #507 which was a crazy coincidence since the date was 5/07), and spent the next day hiking Vernal Falls. It was the perfect weekend!
