It happens every year, and every year I go and question why I'm there. Last car show was no different -- I'm hanging out with my friends, walking around, eating a gravy burger. Seth (Jake's younger brother, and my friend Paytin's now fiancé) takes a call and tells us that his brother and friend are coming over. Seth then starts to pitch me Jake's friend, Jevon, and says nothing about Jake -- so I'm thinking that Jake is either ineligible, off the market, or just not looking for anyone. Jake and Jevon come over and join our group, and I'm looking at Jake and thinking, "Hey, wait a minute -- he's kinda cute. Why hasn't he come up conversation before/how have we not run into each other yet?" But, again, I'm not giving him the time of day because I didn't think he was an option. Throughout the night, I kept finding him right next to me. We were talking about everything under the sun, and it was so nice to meet someone new and actually hit it off with them. By the end of the night, I was pretty sure he liked me, but I never thought anything would come of it. We parted ways, and I was thinking, "Worst case scenario, I never see him again. Best case scenario, I see him a couple more times this summer and get to flirt with him a little more -- oh no, how terrible :)" The day after the car show, his family left for a vacation. However, as soon as he got home after their trip, he tracked me down, asked me for my number, and made swift work of it. All it took was one date, and I knew that he was the one I had been looking for. Here we are, now planning our wedding and the rest of our lives together -- God is so good!

One of my closest friends, Jevon, was visiting from Hawaii. I went to pick him up from the Detroit airport and on the way back we are talking about going to the Westphalia car show. Jevon has never been to Michigan, and he likes cars so we decided why not go. We call my brother Seth and ask where he is at and where we should park. He tells me that he is with his fiancée, Paytin, and her grandparents by the church. At this time, I didn't know Seth was not telling me about Paytin's beautiful friend that is with them. Jevon and I make our way over to where they are and I notice that there is an extra person facing away with massive, dark curly hair. When she turned around, I was completely stunned. She was and still is the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen. As soon as I get to see her, I immediately ask Seth, "Who is that?" followed by Seth saying, "Oh yeah that's Brianna." Later, Brianna and I are talking, and I find out that she is very intelligent, funny, and very interesting. I couldn't help but want to talk to her for the rest of the night. We make our way to Tavern and I keep finding every reason to talk to her about literally anything. When the night is ending, we all are standing on the curb talking. This is when I choked. Rather than asking for her number the way I fully intended to, I said, "Uhhh yeah bye." My life was ruined. How could I fumble so bad? I proceeded to kick myself the rest of the way home as Jevon was making fun of me. A week later, I found a way to get in contact with her and got her number. We set up a first date and everything went perfect. I thank God every day for Brianna and how wonderful she is.
