This guide has everything you need to know about our wedding weekend. We've also compiled a list of our favorite places to eat and things to do so you can have a fantastic time during your stay in the Classic City!
Athens is home to many great breweries, including a few of our favorites listed here. Check out all our local breweries by taking a tour of the Athens Beer Trail! Grab a guide from any participating brewery and collect stamps along the trail. There's even a hop-on beer trolley that runs every Thursday and Friday afternoon/evening!
We got engaged at the Botanical Garden and it is one of our favorite places to explore in the spring and fall!
The home of the bulldogs and where Jordan spends most of his time on fall Saturdays in Athens. Check out the new pavilion (on Sanford Drive) for photos of the stadium and Dooley Field.
The University of Georgia is Jordan's alma mater. Be sure to stop by The Arch (on Broad Street) while you're exploring downtown Athens!
A brewery with beers as funky as Athens itself. We love Tropicália and Athena Paradiso.
We may cheer for different MLB teams, but we can both agree that "Los Bravos" is one of our favorite Terrapin brews.
A historic record store where REM first met.
One of our favorite Saturday morning traditions. Before you head out of town, visit some of our favorite makers and bakers at the Athens Farmer's Market! We love breakfast sandwiches from The Farm Cart, flowers from R&R Secret Farm, and any baked good from Bakery To Go. The market is open from 8am - 12pm.
One of Maya's favorite places in Athens! Great for hiking, biking, and Jordan's favorite, fishing. (Please note there is an entry fee of $2 per person.)
If you are wanting to make a trip of your visit to Georgia, we recommend the Georgia Aquarium. The Georgia Aquarium is the only aquarium in the USA that is home to whale sharks (the world's largest fish, which can grow in excess of 40 feet). Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance!
Fun Fact: Coca-Cola headquarters is located in Atlanta, and the brand has always been associated with the city. Stop by the World of Coca-Cola to meet the famous Coke polar bear and try different sodas from around the world!
If you have some extra time while you wait for your flight, stop by Krog Street Market! We love Krog because of the yummy food/drink options, and because it's more local (less touristy) than Ponce City Market, which is located up the road.
