Our Story

Shelby and Jordan first connected in September 2019 in the way that many modern couples do: a dating app (theirs was Hinge, the one designed to be deleted). They were both living in Auburn, Alabama at the time; Shelby worked at Auburn University, and Jordan covered high school and college sports for a local newspaper. The two then went on a few dates together, and they bonded over shared interests in education, politics, and music. Shelby was a little skeptical of Jordan’s Atlanta sports fandom, but it did not scare her away. Shelby and Jordan moved in together shortly after COVID shut the world down, which helped them learn quite a bit more about each other. During that time, they became fans of many board and card games (like, Ticket to Ride) and Jordan finally got Shelby interested in NASCAR. They also learned they share the same punny sense of humor! Their relationship reached a new level in March 2021 when they adopted Maya, a Staffordshire Terrier puppy who immediately took up all their free time. Both Shelby and Jordan accepted new jobs in early 2022, and they moved to Athens, Georgia, that March for Jordan's role covering the two-time national champion UGA football team. Seven months later, Jordan proposed to Shelby at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia (one of their favorite places in Athens) just a few days after their third anniversary, and she said yes!

Celebrate with us in the Classic City!

Athens is a vibrant college town, known for its breweries, live music venues, art scene, and more. The town was named by the late governor John Milledge for Athens, Greece, known as the center of classical learning, thus giving Athens, Georgia, its nickname: the Classic City. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, Athens emerged as a nationally acclaimed music scene, fueled by bands such as R.E.M., The B-52s and Pylon. Jordan loves Athens because of the variety of activities and events that are always happening and Shelby loves the city because it reminds her of her time in Ann Arbor, Michigan (minus the extreme winters!). They are so excited to host their friends and family in their new home in the Classic City!
