How We Met

June 27, 2017

The story of the Crazy Chicken Chaser & The Infamous Missing Text One day at lunch with my friends Hayley Turner & Nicole Johnson, Hayley showed me a picture on Facebook of a coworker/crazy guy chasing a chicken. I immediately knew I had to meet him, so Hayley contacted the crazy chicken chaser (Carlos). However, we almost never met because of a technology mishap! Here's how it all went down: Carlos' story: He claims he texted me to introduce himself and meet up My story: I.never.got.the.text! Thankfully Hayley (The Enforcer) and Nicole (The Encourager) intervened to make sure we met, by having Carlos resend the text and for me to respond as soon as I got it! A few days later and a few hilarious messages later, Carlos and I met on a sunny day (6/27/17) on the deck at Red's Porch in South Austin. He wore his sun glasses the entire time and made me laugh the entire time. And we've been laughing together everyday since then!

The Proposal

August 10, 2019

The Annual Flinntoya Stay-Away Vacay Since Carlos and I both work in education, the beginning of every school year, we take one last trip to enjoy the last days of summer before our schedules get hectic. So, the 2019 "Flinntoya Stay-Away Vacay" was nothing out of the ordinary. We get to the "Cabin in the Woods" in Liberty Hill, walked around the beautiful property, made dinner, and played a random game of checkers. We decided to go to a little wine bar downtown and watched the sun set on their back patio. When we got back to the cabin, Carlos told me to leave my purse in the car and then come inside. He then darted off somewhere in the dark. This was odd...even for Carlos :-). I walked inside the cabin to candle lights, our favorite music playing, and a pathway of several of our favorite pictures blown up (including a time stamped picture of the Infamous Missing Text). *I.lost.it!* Each picture had a sweet question which led to the final question of "Will you walk outside?" I walked out the backdoor down a candlelit pathway and then Carlos turned the corner. He was wearing a nice suite, playing the ukulele, and singing, "Cant help falling in love." *We.both.lost.it!* He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Then I heard "Did she say yes?" and saw Carlos' brother, David pop out of the bushes- who sneakily set the proposal up while we were out of the cabin! :-) The rest is one big happy blur!!
