Barton Springs Pool
How many cities can boast a three-acre, spring-fed pool right in the center of town? Austin can, with the famous Barton Springs Pool. Fed by four bubbling springs, this natural wonder is basically the most Austin thing ever: sunshine, cold water, and everyone living their best outdoorsy life.
South Congress Avenue
A walkable stretch full of independent shops, coffee spots and food trucks, with great views of downtown.
6th Street (West & East)
The heart of Austins live music scene, with bars and venues hosting live bands nightly. We recommend West or East 6th for a fun but more relaxed atmosphere West-> fun, lively East-> Cool, relaxed, great bars Dirty 6th-> Chaotic, late nights
Lady Bird Lake Trail
Ancrushed granite path with boardwalk that goes 10 miles around Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin. Paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, exotic water birds, turtles and the skyline of downtown Austin will entertain you as you stroll or run the trail. At sunset you are likely to see the largest freetail bat colony in North America fly out from underneath the Congress Avenue bridge and fly eastward down the lake in giant waves that look like smoke.

Fredericksburg
Fredericksburg is a charming Hill Country town about 1.5 hours away from Austin, known for its wineries, tasting rooms and walkable Main Street. Along the nearby Ranch Road 290 Wine Trail, you'll find many of beautiful vineyards and wine bars. We recommend booking a wine shuttle or tour if you plan to visit multiple wineries. Our personal favourites: -Rhinory - Combines unique winery with Rhino Conservation -Grapecreek vineyard- A 100 acre estate with 25 acres of vineyards -Grapetown Vineyard- Amazing wine and unique animals.

The Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge
The Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge in downtown Austin hosts the world's largest urban bat colony, with 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats emerging nightly from mid-March to November. The best viewing is 30–60 minutes before sunset, particularly in August when pups begin flying. Free viewing spots are on the bridge or below at the Austin Bat Refuge.
