Emma and Fletcher matched on Bumble in London on September 10th, 2022. Emma hadn’t spent time in Chelsea before and thought it would be nice to explore it with some company, fully assuming she wouldn’t have to see Fletcher again anyway… because he’s American. Fletcher, meanwhile, was very hungover in his hotel room after traveling to London for a football match that was ultimately cancelled as the country paused following the passing of the Queen. With a flight booked for the following morning, he decided that if Emma wouldn’t come to him, he’d simply unmatch. Romantic beginnings at their finest. Thankfully, Emma went. What was meant to be a casual first date turned into the longest, most magical date either of them had ever been on. It involved hours of walking, talking, laughing, and a mutual refusal to say goodbye, despite the small inconvenience of an international flight scheduled for the next morning. Their second date took place in Nashville (yes, really), followed by a third in Miami, proving early on that “long distance” was never going to be done the sensible way. Somewhere between airports, time zones, and a very bold decision, Emma moved from Bristol to Austin in January 2024 and hasn’t looked back since. On November 1st, 2025, during a romantic walk along the beach in Hawaii, Fletcher asked Emma to marry him. She said yes, obviously. Today, they live in Austin with their three dogs, who firmly believe this entire story is actually about them. Somewhere along the way, what started as a chance meeting became the safest, happiest place either of them had ever known. They can’t wait to celebrate with you!
