Shawn and Jessica met in the most romantic way possible - trying out for the quidditch team at the University of Virginia! That season, Shawn was the social chair of the team and asked Jessica to dinner under the guise of "getting to know the the new members of the team" (she would later find out that she was the only new player he asked to dinner). Since that day they've pretty much been inseparable - they were good friends for a few months and one day decided that it was time to put a label on it.

Jessica and Shawn went tidepooling at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park in San Diego, a place where Jessica can often be found looking for cool (and weird) rocky-intertidal species. Shawn was off in the distance crouched over a tidepool and called out, "Hey Jessica I found a weird creature!". Jessica booked it over and couldn't figure out what creature he was talking about; the pool was empty aside from rocks and kelp. "It's under that piece of kelp right there" - when she moved the kelp, she found the engagement ring, and said yes! (part of her still wishes there was also a cool creature in that pool though). We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Richmond!
