On a clear day you can see 7 states from Rock City atop Lookout Mountain. The park opened in 1932 and you can still explore is amazing sites and geologic wonders. (There is even a weird cave filled with gnomes).
This is a wonderful art museum that features both historic and contemporary architecture. It is also the first art museum Lauren visited on a daddy-daughter date day in the early 1990s.
In 1890 the United States Congress authorized Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, the first such park in the country. It was dedicated in 1895 and has since served as a model for most national military and historical parks. Today the park encompasses more than 9,000 acres of battlefields, monuments, and forests, and urban landscapes. For the Fleming family, this National Park was, and is, a place of recreation and memory. Lauren and Robin learned to ride their bikes here as children. As adults, Lauren, Robin, and their mom Carol all ran their first half marathons through the park.
