Question

All ACCOMMODDATIONS, INCLUDING TWO NIGHTS STAY AND ALL MEALS, ARE INCLUDED

Answer

Seriously. Just get yourselves there! Meals will be included at the Sandy Island dining hall at set times. If you think you will want snacks between meals, you can feel free to bring some food with you to the island. The dining hall can accommodate dietary restrictions.

Question

How do I get to Sandy Island?

Answer

To get to Sandy, you MUST travel via the Big Sandy II, a commercial fishing boat that has been converted to a 50-person passenger vessel. There will be a boat schedule, with boats leaving Friday evening, Saturday morning and midday, Saturday night, and Sunday morning. If you miss a scheduled boat, you must either wait for the next one or get a taxi ($75). Travel to the Boat Dock (North Woods Camp, Mirror Lake, NH) The closest airports are Boston Logan (2hr drive) and Manchester (1hr 20min drive). There is no public transportation, so you must drive from the airport. Parking is on the camp grounds at North Woods Camp, so vehicles will be safe near the boat dock. We will set up a carpool from both the Boston area and Manchester Airport. North Woods Camp Address: Rt 109 N and Northwoods Rd, Mirror Lake, NH 03853

Question

What is the attire for the weekend and for the wedding?

Answer

Weekend attire: Casual! There is no need to wear anything more formal than jeans throughout the whole weekend, aside from the wedding itself. You will want clothes that are warm and can be layered. Evenings may get as low as the 40s, and during the day we may get lucky with 75 and sunny! Plan for athletic events, swimming, roasting marshmallows, and warm pajamas. Wedding attire: Formal and fun! When planning your wedding outfit, choose shoes that you can comfortably walk in the woods in (skinny heels are out of the question!) and a great jacket to go with your fit.

Question

What's the deal with kids?

Answer

This is a camp! Bring your kids! There are strollers, pack-and-plays, kids lifejackets and water toys, and height chairs in the dining hall. Kids diet preferences are understood in the dining hall. There are tons of activities for kids, including toys and sports equipment, a kids library, two jungle gyms, a four-square court, bocce courts, tennis, a ballfield, soccer, volleyball, cornhole... There will not be childcare options on-site, so plan accordingly.

Question

Packing List

Answer

Remember, this is an island! Once you're on island, getting to a store on the mainland is very difficult. The Sandy staff transports luggage, but it must be strong and self-contained. Please limit weight of individual bags to 35 lbs. or less. and bags to no more than 3 per person. Small personal items, beverages and open bags should be carried on the boat. Sandy island provides bedding, but if you like to be cozy you may wish to bring a sleeping bag. List: While meals are covered in the dining hall and drinks will be provided, if there are additional snacks or specific drinks you'd like, feel free to bring your own!
