Kate and Tristan met in band class during her senior and his junior year of high school. As soon as she walked into the classroom she realized he was sitting in her chair and had on these horrible green shoes. She thought to herself, "what a punk". When he saw her walk in, he leaned over to his friend and said: "I'm going to get that girl's number."

After a long day of work, Kate had come home to a pile of steaks marinating in the fridge for dinner, and Tristan was outside taking care of the yard. When he had finished, he came inside and Kate told him how nice it was to come home to him taking such good care of everything; all she needed to do was relax! She joked and said, "I need to lock this down!" Tristan joked back and said "Will you marry me?" got a big smile on his face and then left the room. Kate brushed it off, she knew he was kidding, so she started walking to the bedroom to put her shoes away. Tristan followed and tried to get her attention, but Kate kept walking and talking until finally, he said "BABE!" and she turned around. Kate knew immediately he wasn't joking anymore and started tearing up. Tristan confessed how he had been waiting for months to do this and he just couldn't wait any longer, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Of course, she said yes and when he stood back up, he revealed that he had his grandmother's ring and had been waiting for the perfect moment to propose.
