As most of you know, Brandon left for a 10 month deployment in the middle of the wreckage that was 2020. So, I decided to go to California for a travel nursing assignment and get some sunshine therapy while he was gone. When he returned from Africa, Brandon came out to California for 2 weeks so we could spend some time vacationing together around the west coast. Little did I know, as I was planning our destinations, that I also conveniently planned my own engagement! Our first destination from Hermosa Beach was Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park. I had done some research, and found that Joshua Tree is one of the nation’s best places to do some star gazing because of its distance from any major cities. Well, Brandon is a veryyy smart man, and can clearly spot a good opportunity when it is presented!! We spent all day driving, hiking and sightseeing through Joshua Tree, and I almost wanted to throw in the towel and just go home after such a long day. Brandon was very persistent that we should stay after dark and see the stars, as planned! So he fed me, which worked to revive my spirits, and we drove back into the south entrance of the park and found a little spot off the road to set up a blanket. It was absolutely breathtaking how many stars there were. It was like you could look through them into different galaxies ✨ It was such a perfect moment. Until, that is, we got cold and scared that desert wildlife might be lurking, so we started packing up. I stoop up and fumbled around, trying to pick up blankets, when I heard him say my name. I turned around, and saw him on one knee- it took me all of 3 seconds to figure out what he was doing! You all know the rest!! I said yes 💍🏜❤️🍾🥰
