We met during the wettest October in recorded history. By chance, we were both working at the same Northern California farm. Working conditions were, well, the wettest in recorded history. I met Drew while excitedly talking to someone about a music event I had just attended. She smirked and told me the organizer was sitting behind me, so I had the chance to gush to him about how much fun I had at the Lost Sierra Hoedown the month before. We spent the rest of the season exchanging sweet smiles in passing, but that's not where we fell in love. Over the next two and a half years, we would run into each other at shows, sharing a love for music and well-produced small events. Our paths began crossing more frequently and our friendship grew closer. We shared with each other intimate aspects of our lives: break-ups, deaths, things we were excited about, even crushes. Finally in April 2019 our worlds collided at D.I.O. Fest in Santa Cruz. I removed his smudged spectacles to clean them on my shirt. The rest is a bit of a blur.
