COVID-19 Update

as of December 19, 2021

We are closely monitoring developments but remain optimistic that we can go forward as planned with our celebration next month! We have communicated additional safety measures to guests via email - please do reach out to us with any questions. With love and gratitude, Matt & Katie

How we met

04.19.2010

We first met in April of 2010, when Katie was a high school senior visiting Duke for accepted students weekend. Matt was a freshman at the time, and he knew that if he did not make every effort to snap Katie up when she stepped foot on campus the following August, the oncoming tide of popularity would sweep her away forever. Katie gave Matt a chance despite him being a "nerd" who was "too obsessed with soccer". Matt is very thankful she did and would like to think it worked out for the best for both of them (despite him clearly getting the better end of the bargain).

The Proposal

07.19.2018

In July 2018, we spent a weekend together in San Francisco where Matt was interning for the summer. Matt convinced Katie to go on a sunset hike outside of the city under the pretense of meeting up with an old friend (thank you Jamie!) and when they got to the top of the hill, she was stunned to see her two sisters Jen and Laura waiting for her. When she turned around, Matt was on one knee, and a few tears later, Katie said yes!

The Ceremony

11.24.2021

When COVID upended our original June 2020 wedding date, we decided to take matters into our own hands and tie the knot in a safe, intimate setting with just a handful of immediate family and friends...on a Tuesday of all days. We had a beautiful day together (and hope many of you were able to tune in virtually) and cannot wait to follow it with a proper celebration this winter!
