Tuacahn Amphitheatre is a tremendous St. George, UT community asset and a wonderful entertainment center for visitors from around the country. Tuacahn Center for the Arts is the home of “Broadway in the desert,” an arts organization that has performances of Disney musicals, touring bands and family-friendly comedians at their outdoor amphitheatre. It is what first brought me to St. George in 2015. My younger sister, Kaylah, obtained a job there less than a week after graduating from college! If you plan to extend your trip past the wedding weekend or plan to arrive in time for Saturdays show, these shows will be performing at Tuacahn! • October 11th & 15th @ 7:30pm - Wonderland • October 12th & 14th @ 7:30pm - Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat • October 8th & 13th @ 7:30pm - Mary Poppins
“The Red Cliffs National Conservation Area in southwest Utah comprises 45,600 acres of ecological diverse landscapes located at the convergence of the Mojave Desert, Colorado Plateau and Great Basin physiographic regions. The Pine Valley Mountains, part of the Dixie National Forest, lie to the north of the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, while the communities of Ivins, Santa Clara, St. George, Washington and Leeds surround the southern boundary.”
“This 52 acre rustic community park is a rock climber's paradise. From Dixie Rock, also known as the Sugarloaf, spectacular views of downtown, White Dome, Zion National Park and Arizona can be seen. This park has a large trellis pavilion with two barbecues and fire ring, several smaller picnic areas with tables, two with metal trellis pavilions, and a separate fire pit with an amphitheater. Numerous hiking trails provide access to a Boy Scout Cave, historical pioneer cabin location, Slot Canyons and a connection into the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve.”
“Visit Arches to discover a landscape of contrasting colors, land forms, and textures unlike any other in the world. The park has over 2,000 natural stone arches and hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive rock fins, and giant balanced rocks. This red-rock wonderland will amaze you with its formations, refresh you with its trails, and inspire you with its sunsets.”
“Hoodoos (irregular columns of rock) exist on every continent, but here is the largest concentration found anywhere on Earth. Situated along a high plateau at the top of the Grand Staircase, the park's high elevations include numerous life communities, fantastic dark skies, and geological wonders that defy description”
“Canyonlands invites you to explore a wilderness of countless canyons and fantastically formed buttes carved by the Colorado River and its tributaries. Rivers divide the park into four districts: Island in the Sky, The Needles, The Maze, and the rivers themselves. These areas share a primitive desert atmosphere, but each offers different opportunities for sightseeing and adventure.”
“Located in south-central Utah in the heart of red rock country, Capitol Reef National Park is a hidden treasure filled with cliffs, canyons, domes, and bridges in the Waterpocket Fold, a geologic monocline (a wrinkle on the earth) extending almost 100 miles.”
“Lined with upscale casino hotels, the neon-soaked Strip is quintessential Las Vegas. As well as gambling floors, the vast hotel complexes house a variety of shops, restaurants (ranging from mainstream to high-end), and performance venues for music, comedy and circus-style acts. Attractions like the soaring, choreographed Fountains of Bellagio and the High Roller observation wheel draw crowds.”
“Follow the paths where native people and pioneers walked. Gaze up at massive sandstone cliffs of cream, pink, and red that soar into a brilliant blue sky. Experience wilderness in a narrow slot canyon. Zion’s unique array of plants and animals will enchant you as you absorb the rich history of the past and enjoy the excitement of present day adventures.”
