Well it was the end of another long Fall semester of Medical School and we had planned a weekend trip to Austin to celebrate. After Julian finished his final exam we hopped in the car en route to our city. When we arrived, Julian revealed that he had planned a scavenger hunt around Austin. He told me that he had hired a company to design the scavenger hunt based on places around the city that were meaningful to us. He told me that it was part of my Christmas present and it was keeping with the 18+ year tradition my family has of a Christmas morning scavenger hunt for our "big" presents. We got started and found clues at the places we hold dearest to our hearts - the bar on Rainey street where we had our first drinks, St. David's hospital where we met, the park where he asked me to be his girlfriend, & Starbucks on campus where we frequented for coffee dates. Finally it was time to find the final clue (and finally Julian started to act a little nervous - the whole time he was so calm!). We headed down the trail along Lady Bird Lake to a lookout point with a beautiful view of the Austin skyline across the water. We found the last clue that read, "You probably thought this was going to say The End, but really its just the beginning." Thats when I knew. Julian got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. Thats not "The End" either though… Julian then asked if I wanted any pictures to commemorate the moment. He signaled to the bushes and out comes Mr. Adame. Turns out this “company” Julian hired called “GeoGames LLC” was actually his mom, dad, & sis! They braved the rain and wind to plant the clues all around Austin, arriving at each spot just about an hour before us. Needless to say, I was very impressed. The night then ended with yet another surprise - a dinner at Barlata, one of our first and favorite date spots, with not only his family but my family as well. We both will never forget the feeling of such a tremendous amount of love that surrounded us that day.
