Amy and Jonathan first met in person on March 31, 2018 through the online dating service eHarmony, it was 2018 after all. They went on several dates at first but then just spent that summer hanging out and getting to know each other as friends. On October 6, 2018, Jonathan took Amy to his winery’s fall member release party. Later that evening, Jonathan decided to take a chance and had the D.T.R. talk with Amy. And so began their dating relationship.
Backstory: Jonathan and Amy often like to progress to different establishments on evenings they spend out together. JB of course always has some good restaurant or bar up his sleeve and Amy is always down for an adventure. So she’d often ask “what’s next?” as they were finishing up at one place. So the progression fondly became known as “nexting” - in keeping with Jonathan’s way of turning non-verbs into verbs, e.g. “sportsing” (doing or talking about anything sports related) or “outdoorsing” (hiking, camping, etc.) Amy and Jonathan had hatched a plan to visit New York City and Chicago together. Having become familiar with Amy’s obsession with NYC, he figured he better take the opportunity while he had the chance. They had been talking about the future and marriage and Jonathan casually got some ring ideas from Amy and went to work. Amy also loves rooftops and city views. So Jonathan found a rooftop bar in downtown Manhattan, and, in what Amy describes as the perfect proposal, got down on one knee with the NYC skyline as the backdrop and asked her if she wanted to “next” for the rest of their lives... or something like that, it’s a bit of a blur. Amy was ecstatic. They then “nexted” to fancy restaurant called Manhatta on the 60th floor of a downtown NY building for dinner with a view.
