Aspen Paragliding is the premier paragliding school in the country and a full service dealer of paragliders and equipment. We provide professional tandem instruction, certification, mountain & thermal soaring clinics, glider inspection & repair, accessory installation and international adventure travel excursions. Aspen Paragliding was established in 1990 and was one of first paragliding schools to get permission to fly from a ski resort.
Built-in the memory of great singer John Denver, the sanctuary is nestled next to Rio Grande Park. The sanctuary is an ideal spot for a family picnic or for meditation. The sanctuary is one of the favorite spots among locals and tourists because of its scenic beauty and environmentally sound wetlands. One can know about the history of the sanctuary through the landscape engraved rocks. The sanctuary also provides a stage for entertainment as it houses Theater Aspen.
If views across mountain lakes is your idea of heaven, then the American Lake Trail is for you. Climbing 2,000 feet along its 6.5-mile length, it is a challenging trail, but at the end you find yourself looking over the beautiful American Lake itself, where you can take in the exquisite scenery. The American Lake trail is easily accessible with a vehicle. Head west from Aspen on Highway 82 for half a mile, at the roundabout turn right on to Castle Creek Road. Follow this for 10 miles until you reach the Elk Mountain Lodge, where you turn right into the American Lake parking lot. The trailhead is found here.
he Ute trails offers a great workout and some fabulous views, taking in everything that Aspen has to offer along the way. From a glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous to the breath-taking views from high up on the ski slopes, the Ute Trail has it all. A one-way trail, the 2.2 miles of clearly marked route takes you from the trailhead on Ute Avenue to the top of one of the most popular ski slopes, where you can ride the gondola back down, completely free of charge.
The Arbaney-Kittle Trail follows a historic ranching road turned pack trail that climbs 2,000 feet from Basalt to the ridgeline separating the Roaring Fork and Frying Pan river valleys. From Basalt, it's a stiff climb to get up to about 9,000 feet. From there, the route is still climbing but the grades aren't as intense. For the most part, you'll be hiking through a mixed forest of pine, spruce, and aspen.
The Grottos Trail is a 0.6 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Aspen, Colorado that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, and nature trips and is best used from June until September. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
