Completed in 1888, the Rookery is one of the oldest standing high-rises in Chicago. It was designed by the architectural firm, Burnham and Root.

In 1905, the building's interior was remodeled by the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright's design added a sense of airiness and light to the already impressive light court, enhancing its ornate ironwork and glass ceiling.
