There are many places you can visit on a day trip whether you are staying in the city or at the lake. Here are some of our recommendations:

Relax by the lake

Lago de Coatepeque, Santa Ana, El Salvador

If you are only visiting for the weekend, we suggest relaxing by the pool/lake, doing water activities, or visiting the small adventure park next to La Pampa Coatepeque inside the Cardedeu complex.

Hike to the crater of an active volcano

Volcan Ilamatepec, Santa Ana, El Salvador

Feeling adventurous? Take a guided hike to the turquoise crater of the active Ilamatepec Volcano (also known as Santa Ana Volcano). Along the way, you will get views of other volcanoes, Coatepeque Lake, valleys, and the Pacific Ocean. Difficulty Level: Moderate

Go to the beach

Playas de La Libertad, La Libertad, El Salvador

Most tourists come to El Salvador for the waves, so, while you are here, take a day trip or stay the night at any beach in La Libertad. You will find plenty of boutique hotels there.
