Question

What is required to travel to Ireland?

Answer

Passport - Please be sure your passport is up-to-date. In some instances, you are not able to fly if your visa expires within two months. for the wedding this would mean if your passport expires in September or early October 2024, you may not be able to travel. We recommend applying for or renewing your at least 12 months in advance of traveling (in this case, applying by July 2023). NOTE: A real-ID does not substitute a passport. You must have a US government issued passport to enter Ireland.

Question

Where should I fly into?

Answer

We recommend flying into Dublin. It is easy to get to the venue and/or other parts of Ireland. Aer Lingus operates out of Bradley in Hartford, CT. We also recommend looking at flights from NY or NJ of flying from the CT or surrounding area. Stewart airport, located about an hour from Milford, CT often operates inexpensive flights to and from Dublin (they typically include a short layover in Iceland). When you land in Ireland, you will be required to go through customs. Check this site regarding entry requirements https://travel.state.gov/

Question

How do I get around Ireland?

Answer

Public transportation outside of Dublin is limited. We recommend renting a car or getting a cab. If you are going to other parts of Ireland (Galway, Cork, etc.) you can look into City Link buses: https://www.citylink.ie/home

What else should I know about going to Ireland?

Answer

Outlets - you will need an adapter to charge your phones, plug in your hair straightener, etc. Tipping - tipping is not common in Ireland. Take out Euro before leaving the US. Most major banks can order it for you. We recommend ordering 6 weeks in advance. Make sure to contact your credit card carrier before traveling to let them know you’ll be out of the country.
