Everything started the most romantic way… through a Hinge message. After four years of almost giving up on dating, our last try turned out to be the winner. Thanks, Hinge – we’re getting hitched! Our first date finally happened in St Paul’s, London, after a month and a half of messaging (unheard of, we know). Tania was marathon-training and stone-cold sober; Alex had a glass of red wine and wowed her with his charm. There wasn’t a dull or quiet moment – we talked our way through the city, closed down a Zizzi’s, and somehow made it to a fourth date without even kissing. That changed at Angel tube station after a Latin-inspired dinner and some real talk. When it was time to say goodbye, Alex went in for a hug… then kissed Tania’s hand (being far too much of a gentleman)…and started to walk away. Tania had had enough of waiting. One bold “Is that it?” later, and here we are. Since then (except when Tania is travelling for work and leaving Alex behind), we’ve been inseparable — travelling together, laughing, meeting each other’s families (sweaty hands and a lot of Portunhol involved), and discovering we’re both competitive enough to stick anything out, as long as we both leave as winners. Thanks to a shared travel bug, the most common questions from friends are now: “Are you in the country?” or “Where are you guys going next?” Alex is the disciplined, kind, tech-loving foodie who remembers to eat — and is one of the main reasons Tania does too. Tania is the social, work-hard-play-hard itinerary planner who hates cooking but makes sure no moment of a trip goes unused. He keeps us fed; she keeps us moving. We’ve lived together for three years, believe in keeping life simple, and love shorts, trainers, sunshine, and good company. After a meaningful walk in Budapest, we knew we were choosing each other — paperwork or not. And after a tough year for our family, Alex sealed that choice with a proposal in Cappadocia in June 2025. He’s her Batman. She’s his Wonder Woman. We’re crazy about each other, occasionally drive each other crazy, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Sometimes it only takes one last swipe and one bold kiss to lead to a lifetime of adventures. So, here’s to June 2026, a sunny future somewhere near the beach, a life full of laughter, travel, great people – and hopefully a puppy very soon.
