Flight
There are direct flights to Quito from Miami, New York, Texas or Madrid - otherwise, it's likely requires at least one stop on the way down here! Recommend to avoid booking any stopover less than about 1 hour and 30 minutes - this is because if your first flight is delayed, it becomes too stressful trying to catch your second flight into Quito. Best airports to stopover are Panama, Miami and El Salvador. Bogota is extremely busy, large and sometimes hard to navigate so not our first choice. Avianca is a partner airline to Air Canada (so you will earn your Aeroplan points!), but we also love flying Copa through Panama or American Airlines through Miami, as well.
Travel Note
Quito has Uber and it's widely used here. If you speak some basic Spanish, you should also feel comfortable taking the numerous yellow taxis. Just make sure to confirm your rate and where you are going before you agree to the ride.
