How We Met

Music truly works magic

Dakota was working at Western Harnett High, at the time, when she became friends with a history teacher, Kelli Partida. Word around school was she threw awesome parties. So when Dakota received an invite, she knew she was going to go! Little to her knowledge, that was the day she was going to meet her future husband. The day comes and the news was right, she threw an amazing party. So much fun from start to finish! Before Dakota left she randomly started a conversation with this guy, whom Kelli had worked with when she was in the Army. They talked and talked, that is when he told Dakota that his name is Trevor. They started talking about 1980s hair bands. She thought he was pretty cool but did not think about anything else, after all, Dakota was dating someone at the time. It would months later before they knew their relationship would go to the next level. A year later, we went to a brewery in Fayetteville for drinks and the rest is history!

Popping the Question

Trevor has only been to Chicago once before and that was with Dakota during 4th of July. But now the pair was on their way back up for Christmas. Dakota had been on an architecture tour on the Chicago river and wanted to show Trevor around. Fast forward halfway through the tour when Trevor grabbed my attention and pulled out a little box. Dakota immediately knew what was happening and told him to be quiet! We are all thinking the same thing...what in the world is wrong with you Dakota?! But!! The boat was packed and if anyone knows Dakota, they know that she doesn't like being the center of attention. So he did it on the low low. After the tour, the two went to a local bar near the river to celebrate. Not 100% romantic to most people, but to them it was perfect!
