We’re getting married!

Our love story begins, as two hopeless romantics navigated through countless profiles, messages, and awkward first dates on a dating app. In our journey to finding the one, Felipe caught my eye as his response stood out from the waterfall of messages flooding my inbox. His response to my witty prompt was subtle and quite insulting—a bold move that intrigued me enough to respond. It did not take him long to ask me out for a coffee, which I accepted. We were on the road to deleting the app that was meant to be deleted! We spent our summer nights getting to know each other, in which Felipe completely swept me off my feet. A few months later, he popped the question!

It all started with a friendly wager during the LVIII Super Bowl between the 49ers and the Chiefs. Raquel was rooting for the underdog, while Felipe was holding out hope for Mahomes and his magic to get the Chiefs the win. With just minutes left in the fourth quarter, Felipe boldly proposed a bet: if the Chiefs won, his mom and Raquel would buy him his dream car, but if the 49ers took the trophy, he’d send them both to Cabo. Unbeknownst to us, this playful wager would lead to double the celebrations: Felipe would get his car, and Raquel—and her soon-to-be mother-in-law—would be soaking up the sun in Mexico for their wedding 🤯! We all know how it bet ended: the Chiefs triumphed with a nail-biting score of 25 to 22. Anyways… Super Bowl aside, the game set the stage for what would become the most unforgettable day ever! Our adventure continued with a 1,000-mile road trip to Portland, Oregon, so Felipe could pick up his dream car and me, my dream guy! They day of the trip, Raquel and Felipe arrived to the airport on a time crunch. As we prepared to board the plane, with Raquel was unable to board because information on her boarding pass was incorrect. As Raquel ran back down to the attendants to get it fixed, Felipe was faced with a life-changing dilemma: catch his flight on the road to his dream car or wait for Raquel and miss their flights. Ironically, the night before, Raquel had made a joke in which she told him, “Whatever you do, don’t leave me!” This was defining moment for Felipe leave Raquel and (and maybe a little panic), he told the flight attendants he’d wait for me—smart move, or he’d have returned with a new car and no girlfriend! Phew! Once we landed, Felipe was on a mission, and I was thrilled to be along for the ride. Like a kid with a new toy, he couldn’t wait to hit the open road. With the windows down and a killer playlist, I loved every second of it—just me, him, and the promise of adventure. We made a pit stop in Fresno to visit his best man, and that’s when things got interesting. Felipe’s best friend’s mom asked, “When are you getting married?” He nervously laughed it off, thinking, if only she knew! With 200 miles left to Portland, I decided to play a movie to pass the time. I picked “Proposal,” starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. What are the odds!? As we approached Portland, surrounded by lush greenery and stunning waterfalls, Felipe pulled over to take in the view. With only 100 miles to go, but a lifetime to spend together, he got down on one knee and popped the question. The trip I thought was spontaneous turned into the start of our wonderful journey together. From picking up his dream car to building our dream life, this road trip was more than just losing a bet; it was about love, laughter, and all the adventures ahead.
