This is the famous beach where you can watch the airplanes arrive right above your head. We recommend watching the planes from the patio seating of Sunset Bar and Grill.
Take a day trip to St Barts! One of the best things about Sint Maarten is it’s close proximity to other Caribbean islands. St Barts is the easiest one to get to. But it does take some slight planning ahead. The website I’ve attached explains the three ferry options available. You could also take a 10 minute flight, but a boat ride is way more fun! A typical day trip would be to leave around 9 am and back around 7 pm. So it is a full day adventure. I wouldn’t take the “Voyager” ferry because it leaves from the French side and we will be staying in the Dutch side. The “great bay express” is going to be your best option because they have round trip ferry rides DAILY. It leaves from Phillipsburg which is a quick drive from our hotel. The “edge” ferry is also a good option since it leaves from Simpson Bay (our hotel is in Simpson bay) but there is only one round trip per week. Again, it just takes some planning.
This is the “big city” in Sint Maarten. It is on the Dutch side and only a short drive from our hotel. The water is beautiful and boardwalk is fun to stroll for a nice lunch.
This beach is on the French side and definitely worth the 45-60 minute drive. Plenty of beach front restaurants and lounging spots.
One of our favorite restaurants and the location of the ceremony and celebration dinner
