A baraat is a joyous, celebratory groom’s procession in South Asian weddings that escorts the groom to the wedding venue. It’s filled with music, dancing, and energy, as the groom, accompanied by his family and friends, makes his way to meet the bride and her family. The groom traditionally rides a ghodi (decorated horse).
This is a formal event Indian attire is encouraged or, for men a classic tuxedo with a bow tie or dark suit with a tie, for women a floor lenght gown, elegant cocktail dress or formal pantsuit. No red dresses please.
