We’ve tried to anticipate your questions and concerns. We’re still updating our website post wedding. Check back later for details.
Question

Farron and Erik, I love you both dearly and I’m so happy for you but I won’t be able to travel to Jamaica. Will you ever forgive me?

Answer

Of course! No explanation Is needed. Erik and I are simply happy to have you in our lives. We warmly receive your prayers, well wishes, and love. We pray peace and favor in your life. We don’t harbor any hurt feelings. Check out #HuntHeartsMartinez during our wedding weekend to see photos while we’re there. We are having a celebration of our love when we return so hopefully we can connect then.

Question

Will you have a celebration back home?

Answer

Yes! We understand for various reasons not everyone will be able to attend our Jamaica wedding but we still want to celebrate with you. We plan to keep the party going for as long as possible (smile). Hmm...we’re wondering which of us will win the Newlywed Game? There will also be dancing, good cake, fellowship, the premiere of our wedding video and photos and of course smiles! For good measure, I’ll also be rocking my wedding dress. Who says I can’t?! When: Saturday, January 5, 2019 Location: 3G Event Hall 440 6th St Port Arthur, TX 77640

Call your local U.S. Post Office in advance to see ensure that they accept applications. Also you will need take a passport photo and bring it with you to the U.S. Post Office. You can take this photo for less than $10 at places like CVS and Walgreens. https://www.usps.com/international/passports.htm

Question

Do you need a visa to enter Jamaica?

Answer

No, just your passport.

Question

Can I stay for 1 or 2 nights?

Answer

The minimum stay is 3 nights.

Question

What’s an all-inclusive resort?

Answer

Your hotel lodging payment includes food (breakfast, lunch, dinner, room service, snacks, etc) and all beverages including alcohol. It also includes taxes and surcharges. It’s very similar to going on a cruise. It also includes all non motorized sports and recreation activities on site like kayaking, paddle board, Hobie cat, classes, wind surfing, FLOW RIDER, reggae dance class, beach volleyball, etc. You also receive at least $500 Resort credit per room that can be used for the Awe Spa, off site tours, on site motorized sports, and/or private dinner on the beach. If you stay more than 3 nights you can get $750-$1000 in resort credit per room for even more fun. All bookings through Babs at Wright Travel Agency will receive free transportation to and from the Sangster International Airport to the Moon Palace Resort

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

All wedding guests must stay at the Moon Palace Resort or incur $174/per person/per day fee for day pass to attend the wedding. It’s $293/person/per day for a day pass on the other days.

Question

Is there an app for the hotel?

Answer

Of course there is. Download the Palace Resorts app. Select Moon Palace Jamaica. You can see the restaurants, schedule of nightly events, schedule of pool side activities, look at pictures, check out the spa, etc.

Question

Which airport do I fly into?

Answer

We encourage all guests to use the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. It is closer to Ocho Rios and a more pleasant route to Ocho Rios.

Question

Jamaicans drive on the left side of the road?

Answer

Yes! This should make for an interesting adventure. Good thing you’re not driving!

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotel to the ceremony?

Answer

The wedding is onsite at the hotel.

Question

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

No. Typically any off site excursions you pick will include transportation.

Question

Do I have to make reservations to eat?

Answer

None of the restaurants require reservations. Reservations are accepted for hibachi style dining at Momo. Most attire at the restaurants is resort casual. Only one restaurant, Gondola, has a dress code requiring shoes, pants and shirt for men. For this restuarant it essentially means no swimsuits, jeans, flip flops, or cut off shirts. See hotel website for any further details.

Question

So what should I wear?

Answer

We recognize our sunset wedding is at a resort outside by the ocean. The weather will be 80 degrees F, breezy, and warm. The ground will be a paved stone surface including seating except for the wedding. Wedding seating is on the grass turf. No sand. Wedding: Resort Evening, Resort Elegant, Resort Formal Men: dress shirts, collared shirts, slacks, khakis, dress sandals, blazers, suits, swanky hat. No T-shirt’s, jeans, shorts, flip flops or tennis shoes. Tuxedo and vest are not necessary. Women: skirts, blouses, pants, cocktail dresses, sundresses, swanky hat, sandals, wedges, stilettos (if you’re brave). No jeans, shorts, flip flops or tennis shoes. Panty hose not necessary. For other wedding events Resort Casual/Elegant Casual is sufficient. Feel free to rock bright colors including the wedding pallette of teal/turquoise/coral/gold/tan/white. It can all be a bit confusing so for more tips check out this site: https://www.cheapcaribbean.com/deals/cracking-dress-code.html

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

A swanky wedding outfit (see above), resort wear, swimsuit/swim trunks, a hat, shorts, flip flops, sandals. Men, bring at least one collared shirt and a pair of slacks. Women, bring at least one non-jean, non-shorts outfit. Don’t forget sunscreen spf 30 or spf 50 (yes that means you). You should bring a DEET type mosquito spray just in case you go on a forest adventure. Your phone charger and any electronics will work with Jamaican outlets so no conversion kit necessary. You really don’t need a jacket and at most a light jacket or shawl is sufficient. The breeze is warm and might only feel cool to you if you were just getting out the pool or if you were at an indoor restaurant. Keep your passport ON YOUR PERSON on travel days (not in your suitcase).

Question

Are there any other official events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Officially, we plan to have a Welcome Party Saturday night and a Farewell Brunch Monday. Unofficially we invite you to join us on an excursion and late night get together on that Friday. (Excursion and get together location to TBD)

Question

Is there free WiFi?

Answer

Yes, there is free WiFi at the resort including the shuttle to/from the airport and if you use Club Mobay there is free WiFi at the airport.

Question

Can I bring a date/guest/kids?

Answer

While family, friends, and additional guests are welcomed at our resort, the wedding ceremony and reception will be invite only and adult only. Please refer to invitation.

Question

Does the resort allow kids?

Answer

The resort is very kid friendly and offers many activities to keep them engaged and entertained during the ceremony and reception. Your little ones will be steps away from the children’s playroom and teen lounge. Check out the hotel website to see kid friendly accommodations and activities. Kids age 0-17 are free in the room with 2 paying adults.

Question

Can I use U.S. dollars?

Answer

Yes. Most businesses in Jamaica accept U.S. dollars (USD) and in fact some prefer it. Keep in mind if you pay in USD you WON”T get any change back. Bring small USD so you can tip and buy items without overpaying. Jamaican money is called Jamaican dollars. A USD is worth more than a Jamaican dollar meaning your USD will go further than it normally does. If you want to use the local Jamaican dollar you can exchange money at the airport (here in the U.S. or in Jamaica) and at some banks local and abroad. Usually there is a $2-5 fee for exchanging your money but not always. Any Jamaican dollars not used can be exchanged back to USD. Note: Keeping a few Jamaican dollars or coins can make great souvenirs.

Question

Any travel tips?

Answer

1. Before you leave for Jamaica, call your bank and your credit card company to alert them you will be traveling out of the country. This decreases the chance the bank puts a hold on your account due to fraud suspicions. 2. Before you leave for Jamaica, call your cell phone carrier to alert them of your international travel to Jamaica. Ask about modifying your cell phone plan TEMPORARILY to allow you to make calls, send texts, use data (ie surf the web and play games). If you elect not to modify your plan they will let you know the rates to make calls, send texts, use data. It’s more expensive if not planned ahead. 3. When traveling avoid wearing flashy clothes and jewelry and limit use of cameras/fancy phones. This will help you blend in with locals and minimize risk for pick pockets. 4. Depending on the cell phone you use you may have to turn your phone completely off, turn off WiFi, and/or leave your phone in Airplane mode to avoid unwanted communications or unwanted charges.

Question

Any travel tips (continued)?

Answer

5. Lock any valuables (including your passport) in the resort safe. Don’t walk around Jamaica or the resort with your passport to avoid it being lost or stolen. 6. Travel in pairs when possible especially outside the resort.

Question

Any travel advisories?

Answer

Use common sense safety practices just as you would in the U.S. We will be almost entirely in Ocho Rios which is safe. We are all covered by the blood of Jesus Christ so relax, go with the flow, and have a good time. For official travel advisories check out this link: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories/jamaica-travel-advisory.html Also check out https://travel.usnews.com/Jamaica/

Question

Do I have to get any shots or vaccines?

Answer

No shots are required. It’s a good practice though to make sure your routine shots are up to date like the flu shot, tetanus (Tdap), measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR). Generally most adventurous eaters and world travelers do also make sure they get the Hepatitis A vaccine and Typhoid vaccine, but again, these are not required. It takes time to get your shots so allow a few months to complete a series of shots. See this Health advisory from the CDC: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/jamaica

Question

What about Zika?

Answer

Zika is not a fatal viral illness but it can complicate a pregnancy and harm a fetus. Most with Zika will never know they were infected but some can get mild fever, rash, aches and irritated eyes. Zika goes away on its own within about a week. No treatment is necessary. Update! The Zika epidemic has declined considerably in Jamaica. Jamaica is now down to a handful of cases/week which is down from hundreds of cases/week 2 years ago. Most of any current cases are in rural, more remote villages. As a general precaution to prevent a mosquito transmitted illness, bring mosquito spray and consider spraying your clothes with DEET. A mosquito net is not needed. We also didn’t see or feel a single mosquito when we visited the resort in January. The rooms are enclosed and air conditioned. Also the ocean breeze would keep any mosquitos away when you’re outside at the resort. You may encounter mosquitos if you go on a mountain/forest adventure/excursion.

Question

I may be pregnant for your wedding! What do I do?

Answer

Congratulations! Unfortunately, if you will be pregnant at the time of our wedding I suggest you stay home. I know it seems like overkill but better safe than sorry. Also, continue to receive routine prenatal care. For all who attend the wedding AVOID conceiving during your visit and up to 6 months after. If you have a health related question consult your doctor.

Question

When is my RSVP due?

Answer

Your RSVP and reservation for the wedding were due June 4, 2018. We still have many details to finalize with the venue and it all starts with an accurate head count. Even we had to RSVP and book like everyone else. No new reservations or RSVPs will be accepted beyond June 4, 2018. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we prepare for our wedding.

Question

When is my final payment due?

Answer

All money must be paid by September 4, 2018. No exceptions.

Question

I’m anxious about leaving the country and/or being in a foreign airport. Any recommendations?

Answer

Consider using Club Mobay, an expedited customs and baggage claim experience, for $50 when you arrive at Sangster International Airport. You get to whiz through customs and immigration and enjoy a private lounge with food and drink while waiting for prearranged transport to Moon Palace. It’s $30 for this service on your return flight to have expedited “TSA” security check (similar to PreCheck) and use the Club Mobay lounge with food and drink while waiting for your departure. Babs (travel agent) can book Club Mobay for you closer to the trip once your trip is paid in full. Also most of us will be on the same flight or arriving at the same time. If you’re not family, then you’re like family, and in good company. You likely won’t be experiencing anything alone unless by choice. Take this as an opportunity to make a friend or help your neighbor.

Question

How much is travel insurance?

Answer

Question

Should I get travel insurance?

Answer

Yes. We are still recovering from Hurricane Harvey so anything is possible. We’re praying that the U.S. and the Caribbean see better weather especially this year. If you secure travel insurance with our travel agent you can CANCEL FOR ANY REASON and have your room and/or airfare refunded. You must book travel insurance at the time of initial reservation. Notify Babs (travel agent) via the online reservation form when you book to go over travel insurance costs and coverage. If you opt to book your own airfare then travel insurance will not cover your flight. If Bab’s books your airfare then you have to option to add travel insurance to cover your flight as well.
