How We Met

October 31, 2015

While Dylan attended The Ohio State University, he worked for the Ohio State Athletic Ticket Office (the ATO). During the summer of 2015, Dylan graduated from Ohio State and concluded his job at the ticket office, while I transferred to Ohio State and was just beginning my job at the ATO. At this point, neither of us knew the other existed. A few months went by, Halloween rolled around, and Laney and I decided to go to the Halloween party that our co-workers from the ticket office were throwing. Little did I know that, just a few hours earlier, Dylan’s mom was convincing him to head back to Columbus to go to the same party (thanks, Donna!). We ended up meeting at the party (Dylan a rockstar, and me a hockey player) and hitting it off. He messaged me on Facebook the following afternoon asking to grab food sometime, so we set up a dinner date at Cooper’s Hawk that Wednesday, and the rest is history! We’ve been together ever since :’ )

The Proposal

August 18, 2018

Dylan and I decided to ‘treat ourselves’ and plan a weekend getaway at Hocking Hills State Park in August of 2018. We booked a cute little cabin for the weekend of the 17th, asked our amazing pup sitter to watch Jax, and were so excited to hike, explore and relax. We decided to plan a long hike for that Saturday morning, and even though it was initially supposed to rain all day, the weather couldn’t have been more beautiful (and ridiculously hot). We made a plan to start at Old Man’s Cave and head towards Cedar Falls, which is about a 6 mile hike round trip. As we got to Cedar Falls, we wanted to take a picture in front of the waterfall (despite being drenched from walking 3 miles in the August humidity), so Dylan went to ask a couple if they’d take our photo. As we’re getting ready for the photo, the woman taking it asked if it was fine that the setting was on ‘video.’ Dylan told her yes, and I didn’t think anything of it, I just figured he didn’t want to make things complicated for the kind lady. As I’m trying to get Dylan to move closer to me so we can take our picture and continue our hike, he turns to me, starts telling me how much I mean to him, and reaching in his fanny pack (lol), and it hits me. He pulls out a gray box, starts to get down on one knee, and I was standing there.. frozen.. with my mouth wide open.. as he asked me to marry him. Of course I finally found my words, said yes to spending my life with the most incredible man, and watched in awe as he slipped the most beautiful ring onto my left hand. We were finally engaged after nearly 3 years together, and we could not be happier!
